Welcome to LOSTFLIGHTS!
I began LostFlights in 1990 with the primary purpose to research, locate, and document historical aviation accident sites. Building on my previous archaeology background and current aviation experience, LostFlights has evolved over time into a full time interest.
Popularly referred to as Aviation Archaeology or Wreckchasing the "interest" is taking on a positive new direction as more federal and state land managers are viewing aircraft crash sites as historical resources and not just trash piles.
That said, I hope you find the following information and photos of interest. In most cases, the incidents and accidents discussed are not positive in nature. Some of the incidents involve people that I personally knew and respected having paid the ultimate price in a profession that has little if any forgiveness.
